How much does drone spraying cost per hectare in 2027?
€20 to €25 per hectare: one price for fungicide, herbicide, foliar feeding and desiccation. You supply the product and the water at the field, and travel within 50 km of Opovo is free.

This advice comes from the field experience of Nikola Mojsa, an agronomist based in Opovo. We write about protecting and feeding wheat, maize, sunflower, soybean and oilseed rape: when to spray against diseases and pests, how to choose a herbicide, when to desiccate and what a drone treatment costs per hectare.

A contract tractor costs about €30 per hectare; a drone costs €20 to €25. Your own sprayer is often the cheapest, but only until the crop grows past one metre. After that a tractor permanently tramples 5 to 6% of the plants, which changes the sums completely.

The second top dressing goes on 3 to 4 weeks after the first. Because a drone uses only 15 to 20 litres of water per hectare, its foliar feed is more concentrated than a tractor's. The calculation is in the article.

The same insecticide has a pre-harvest interval of 35 days in wheat and 42 in oilseed rape. The interval is on the label, separately for each crop.

Urea should be spread by 20 February, and CAN or AN after that. Soil analysis sets the rate: PSS Zrenjanin measured 23 to 235 kg of nitrogen per hectare on fields in Central Banat.

Pre-emergence spraying is mostly a job for a tractor. A drone becomes an option when rain keeps the tractor out of the field and the surrounding fields carry the same crop.

We spray in winds up to 3 to 5 m/s, fly about 3 metres above the crop, and pause when the wind picks up.
